The Mackenzie County Library Board, in conjunction with our local Library Societies, staff and volunteers strive to foster and develop strong libraries that are dynamic, community destinations for knowledge, inspiration, innovation, and cultural awareness.

Albert Einstein himself famously observed, “The only thing that you absolutely have to know is the location of the library.” That is absolutely true!
Our Libraries are true community hubs, from babies to seniors and everyone in between, new residents, visitors and long-timers… each one will find something fantastic at the library! Our team…made up of Mackenzie County Library Board members, local Library Society members, all the staff at the libraries and the vast amount of volunteers are dedicated to provide amazing library services that are in tune with the communities they serve. We provide much more that books on shelves (although that is a primary component)… we have electronic services such as free music, eBooks and language learning… inter-library loans and patron wish-lists for those times that you can’t find what you are looking for… exciting programming and special events and services and a wealth of community information. We are truly a one-stop shop!

To become a library patron and get your shiny new library card… all you have to do is visit the Library! The staff will get you all signed up and tour you through what is all available with your new Library card. There are some fees attached for membership in our La Crete, Blue Hills and Zama City libraries, so remember to take a little cash with you, at the Zama City Library they have a debit machine for your convenience.

We cover a land mass larger than the Province of New Brunswick or 80,000 square kilometers. We have three main library service points located in Fort Vermilion, La Crete, and Zama City. We are so excited to have a new service extension point operating under the La Crete Library located in Blue Hills at the Motel!
The MCLB partners with High Level Municipal Library to offer expanded services as the Town of High Level is one of the main service centers for a portion of Mackenzie County.

Another great experience at the libraries is the addition of Vox Books at the La Crete and Fort Vermilion Libraries… these are wonderful for children, readers that are having difficulties and even adults that are new to the English language!
Print book, meet audio book. VOX™ Books are the world’s first audio books that live in print books. The permanently attached VOX™ Reader transforms an ordinary print book into an all-in-one read-along. There’s no need for computers, tablets or CDs. Children simply push a button to listen and read.
VOX™ Books combine outstanding picture books and non-fiction with audio recordings that capture children’s attention and make learning and literacy development fun.
Stop into the Fort Vermilion or La Crete Library and check out the collection available. These may only be available for in-library use depending on the individual library policies. The VOX™ collection was made available by a regional grant by the MCLB to provide this additional material service to our patrons.
